Puppies/Kittens
Puppies
Puppies that need to have tails docked and dew claws removed should be seen as a litter at 2 to 3 days of age.
Puppy litters should be seen at 3 to 4 weeks of age to test for intestinal parasites and again at 6 weeks for their first vaccinations. It is our belief that puppies should not be separated from the litter until at least 6 weeks of age.
It is our recommendation that puppies be seen at 6, 9, 12, and 16 weeks for vaccinations and general checkups. At these visits we will recommend heartworm and flea/tick preventatives as needed for your puppy. Yearly vaccinations will be required after the puppy vaccination series is complete.
We also will consult with you about spay and neuter options. It is our recommendation that these procedures be done after your puppy turns 6 months of age.
Kittens
Kittens born into a controlled environment will need to have vaccinations at 8 and 12 weeks of age. Kittens born into uncontrolled environments should be tested for feline leukemia and feline aids before the vaccine history begins.
It is also our recommendation for kittens to be spayed or neutered at 6 months of age.
